The application of talc in various fields
Talcum powder has good suspension and dispersibility, and low corrosiveness. In coatings, talc powder as a filler can play a skeleton role in reducing manufacturing costs while improving the film hardness. The plate-like particle structure of talc can make the coating with high water resistance. The rheological property and leveling property of the coating can be improved well and the weatherability of the coating can be improved with the help of talcum powder in fibrous particle structure .
Talcum powder is mainly used in primer and intermediate coatings, such as baking primer and conveyance. Ultrafine talcum powder is applied to waterborne latex paint, which can give good coating, levelling and light retention. The coating formed on this basis has good impact resistance and flexibility.
The white sheet structure talcum powder is an effective reinforcing material in plastics. Whether at room temperature or high temperature, talc powder can make plastics have higher rigidity and creep resistance, and make plastics have better solid luster. Because talcum has layered structure, softness and hydrophobicity, it can also be applied to the paper industry.
Talc grinding machines
There is a standard that used for demonstrating ore’s hardness. That is Mohs hardness. Such standard was put forward by Frederich Mohs who was a mineralogist from German. Ten ores are adopted here to represent the 10 hardness level, including talc, gypsum, calcite, fluorite, apatite, feldspar, quartz, topaz, corundum and diamond. Talc is in the first level, which means it has low hardness.
