Talcum powder-used as an agricultural film insulation agent

Talc is a filler for plastics second only to calcium carbonate, and the number of applications in plastic guessing is more than 200,000 tons per year, and it has been further deepened as some of the physical and chemical characteristics of talc are known. Its application scale and the number is increasing rapidly.

1) Use as an agricultural film insulation agent

Mineral deposits containing silicon, such as mica, kaolin and talc, have an infrared shielding effect. Participating in the appropriate amount of this mineral powder in the agricultural greenhouse film can improve the insulation of the plastic film from infrared rays, and then reduce the heat loss in the greenhouse to the outside by infrared radiation at night, and improve the thermal insulation of the greenhouse.

①Mica powder, kaolin, talc powder and light calcium carbonate are together in the filling amount (near the fineness and all through surface treatment), which has close influence on the mechanical function of polyethylene film, during which the mechanical function of the film filled with kaolin and mica powder is more better.

②The LDPE film filled with fillers containing silicon element is significantly better than the inorganic filler without Si—light calcium carbonate, and the infrared insulation of mica powder, kaolin and talc powder is similar.

③ Among the three Si-containing filling guesses, the LDPE film filled with mica powder has the highest light transmittance, and the light transmittance close to the pure LDPE plastic film, followed by kaolin and talc powder, but all are higher than the calcium carbonate filled film .

Because the price of talc powder is cheap and easy to operate, although its light transmittance and infrared light insulation are not as good as mica powder and kaolin, it can still improve its thermal insulation together with better light transmittance, so it has been used in agricultural plastic shed films. It is widely used. At present, depending on the type of film (aging-resistant film, double-proof film, multi-function film, etc.), the agricultural film production plant uses 1% -6% of ultrafine talc powder.
